We are so excited to host four of our favorite Brooklyn-based Kickstarter projects for a night of fun and fundraising in our Harvest Room this Sunday, May 1 from 8:00 to 10:30pm. A mere $10 gets you the following: a ticket, a free half pour of wine, and the comfort that all ticket proceeds go directly to the four featured Kickstarter projects.
Here’s how the party will go down: three groups will make short multimedia presentations, followed by a performance from the Brooklyn-based gospel/folk band Spirit Family Reunion—a group with a Kickstarter project of their own to raise funds for a new van. Presentations and the musical performance will be followed by a cocktail hour in which guests can meet the teams in person, ask them questions, and donate directly to their projects at “donation stations.”
Kickstarter presenters include:
Juliet Linderman and Gabriele Stabile from "The Refugee Hotel" Book Project: A journalist and a photographer are raising money to cover the travel costs involved with finishing their book about the refugee experience in the U.S. (to be published by McSweeney's).
Mike Rugnetta, Stephen Bruckert, and Patrick Davison from MemeFactory Writes a Book: The MemeFactory team is raising money to take the ideas covered in their popular performance/speaking series and turn them into a book about the internet and user-generated culture.
Brian Frye and Penny Lane from Our Nixon: Penny and Brian are taking forgotten Super-8 home movies of Richard Nixon during his presidency (shot by his staff) and presenting them to the public in the form of a feature-length film. They are raising funds to help them complete the film.
You will not want to miss this exclusive opportunity to meet the people behind these amazing Kickstarter projects in person and contribute to their creative endeavors!
Details: Sunday, May 1 8:00 to 10:30pm. Doors open at 7:30pm. $10 per person. 21 and Up.
