Brooklyn Winery is a fully functional winemaking facility and premiere event space located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We offer a full-service event experience, providing clients with the ease of turnkey planning and extreme attention to detail. 

Brooklyn Winery is seeking a talented salesperson with 4+ years experience in the events industry to join its sales team and effectively maintain and grow event bookings. Brooklyn Winery hosts 100+ weddings per year and 150+ social and corporate events, and requires a personable but determined new manager to maximize available inventory, grow average event budget and proactively seek new target accounts. This Events Sales Manager will be responsible for: 

  • Working as part of the wedding sales team to meet monthly wedding booking goals
    •  Driving wedding inquiries
    • Taking clients through the full sales process from appointment to post-booking, including but not limited to:
      • Respond to inquiries and book appointments
      • Walk-Through appointments
        • Hitting goals will require booking 35-40 walk throughs per month, 90% of which will take place outside office business hours (evenings + weekends)
        • Contract Close & Booking
      •  Follow-up and client maintenance until client is introduced to their event manager
  • Driving corporate bookings through proactive outreach tactics and relationship building
  •  Meeting monthly sales goals and accurately tracking projections
  • Updating and maintaining all sales collateral and website language in conjunction with the rest of the sales team
 
The candidate should be extremely personable, well organized and a self-starter. Flexible availability, as noted above, is required to accommodate client needs.

The Crown Heights community is experiencing an exciting revitalization and we are excited to soon be a part of it. Candidates should have experience in a restaurant serving elevated food and a strong understanding of wine and craft cocktails.

Job Summary

The Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef and is responsible for aiding in planning, implementing, directing and maintaining food programs and back of house operations for the restaurant. The chef must ensure that all goals are met while complying with New York State and federal health requirements.  We are looking for a strong candidate who will be hired as Sous Chef, with the intention of, in time, taking over as Chef de Cuisine.  As such, please have prior kitchen managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with owners and executive staff to maintain a high standard of food and service and to ensure that  food business operates as per upper management’s vision and standards
  • Oversee day to day kitchen operations for all aspects of food production
  • Assist with the development of menus
  • Conduct on-going staff tastings
  • Consistently execute and oversee production of menu
  • Maintain recipe files
  • Oversee food purchases and inventory control
  • Manage back of house personnel, including full-time and freelance cooks, ensuring they comply with management protocols
  • In charge of back of house staff, training
  • Provide culinary leadership to staff
  • All scheduling for back of house
  • Oversee portion control and food presentation
  • Expedite and manage back of house staff during service and key events
  • Responsible for maintaining back of house compliance with Department of Health standards
  • Conduct regular food safety walkthroughs
  • Work with Front of House team to ensure excellent client experiences

Requirements

  • Held a culinary position in a professional NYC fine dining kitchen for at least 5 years
  • Excellent management and delegation skills
  • Positive and constructive attitude during service and able to maintain composure and lead through example
  • Must be able to provide examples and explanations of how administrative duties (scheduling, prep sheets, order sheets) are built and maintained
  • Keep a clean and orderly kitchen
  • Hold a NYC Department of Health certificate

The position will primarily be responsible for preparing dishes for the wine bar, but will have the opportunity to help with all aspects of food production for the busy venue. This is a position intended for a highly motivated cook, who does not shy away from responsibility or ownership of their station. This is a supportive environment, with room to grow!
