Letter from the Winemaker: December 2021

Dear Wine Club Members,

It’s the most wonderful time of year and we’re feeling especially thankful for all of you! As we celebrate the last wine shipment of 2021, we want to say thank you for all your support and enthusiasm. From Member Mondays at the wine bar to our exclusive club releases, we’re so glad that you’re enjoying all the different ways you can gather and celebrate your love of wine!

Here at the winery, we’re staying busy and preparing for an exciting year and some fun new wine releases! We just finished up our 2021 harvest during which we received 26 tons of grapes, including some new varietals like Vermentino. Looking forward, we’ll have the bottling line back up in Brooklyn in no time, with our first releases of the new year being our 2021 whites and rosés! Fun fact: our bottling line travels back and forth between our DC and Brooklyn locations every year. That’s what urban winemaking is all about!

Until then, we’re fully embracing the winter wine and this time of year, I’m especially partial to our orange wine and Pinot Noir. Orange wine (skin-contact white) has the perfect balance of white and red – with the refreshing brightness of a white and the rich mouthfeel of a red. Our Pinot Grigio Ramato is a beautiful addition to your holiday table. As for Pinot Noir, well you just can’t go wrong with a classic like that! It goes with all your favorite dishes from roast beef to mashed potatoes.

And if you’re still looking for the perfect last minute gift or that New Year’s Eve host present, I recommend grabbing a bottle of our Zinfandel. It’s a bold red wine that’s a total crowd-pleaser. I’d also suggest grabbing a bottle or two for yourself, because we all deserve a little reward after a long year!

As always, we welcome your comments, feedback and suggestions as we enter another year of Wine Club. You can expect even more from your membership in 2022, including more exclusive events, wine releases and sales!

Happy holidays and happy New Year from all of us at Brooklyn Winery!
